For the backup there is only: System State + SCOM databases OperationsManager database, and OperationsManagerDW database For IIS 7 Configuration it can be taken from the old server I have decided to do the following steps: Install New Server with Same OS Instal SCOM Restore System State backup Apply the following artical: The Root Management Server encryption key is unavailable after you replace or reinstall the Root Management Server server in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 Resotre IIS 7 Configuration Resotre Databases Do customization for MP manually My Questions: Is the seqance is okay? or need to be modified? Do I have to Restore System state "since system state is not included in Technet Disaster recovery section" Is System state return IIS Configuration? ANy Idea? any help? any really desastry scenario will be highly appreciated Thank

Hi, Based on my understanding, I think restoring system state is not necessary; if you can use it, I think it will make the restore quicker since some settings can be restored directly without reconfiguring. Regarding Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) settings, I think it can be restored with restoring system state: What's New in AD DS Backup and Recovery? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754472(WS.10).aspx Regarding the recovery, I would like to suggest you refer to the following documents: Failure Recovery Scenarios for the Root Management Server http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540370.aspx High-Level Restore Guidelines in Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540386.aspx Failure and Restore in Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540408.aspx In addition, please also see the following posts: Disaster Recovery of SCOM Server http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/fa2a15fe-baa2-4871-b302-cf3dcd3e6eeb RMS Disaster Recovery http://contoso.se/blog/?p=197 RMS Disaster Recovery – part II http://contoso.se/blog/?p=202 Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the links may change without notice. If you've backed up your custom MPs you should be able to import them instead of having to customize manually.

In article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946421 I do not have to prompt existing Management server to be RMS, how ever they said the following note, and i got some doubts about how to check the folliowing my questions are in line: Notes The SDK service account and the Config service account must have permission to use the database. "How to check if there is permission?" You must add the SDK service account to the sdk_users role. "From where to add SDK Service account to sdk_users?" You must add the Config service account to the configsvc_users role. "how to do it?"
