Need a list of users who accessed the sensitive document.

Our basic requirement is to track document that are marked as Sensitive (Sensitive is a column in all document libraries in a site coll of field type boolean , 'Yes' if it is sensitive and viceversa) .We need a list of users who accessed the sensitive document.

As of now i am unable to come up with a solution. Please suggest how i can proceed on this...

Thanks

SharePoint libraries have auditing features.  These can be activated on a list/library level and go beyond what analytics for a site collection provide.

Unless you've activated these for your library, than there's no way to get this data from SharePoint that'll leave you in a supported state.

Moving forwards, it's worth checking out this link on the auditing features.  Here's a screenshot on the sort of detail you can capture.

Thanks Steve for the reply....

i was able to figure this out, but i am not able get metadata related to a particular document which in this case is value in 'Sensitive' column. So is it possible to get field values other than Title in the Audit Report,,so i can filter the report..

or can you suggest any workaround how i can achieve my original requirement.

Thanks...

Looks like there are some limitations with creating custom reports in SharePoint Online.  We are currently working on a Data Room application that will be available in the SharePoint store in a couple of months so we have been researching the same topic.  If you are not using SharePoint Online you may be able to use Report Builder.  This link was helpful if you have some people who can help you with the code.

I will be working with some custom reports in the upcoming weeks and will post if we find anything helpful.
