Naming Content database using CA's Application management
Hi,
I am trying to create a Content DB using CA's Application management.[using MOSS 2007] For some reason, the new DB is not taking the name which I am mentioning during previous step. It is taking default GUID db name.
My guess is its because previously, I named a content DB with same name it is not letting me name new DB with same name. Though, I deleted it from everywhere ( CA's app management & SQL Server) , there are some traces of it somewhere.
Please let me know what I can do so that content DB has name which I want it to use.
Thanks,

Try
this link. You have to add new DB to Central Administration "Central Administration -> Application Management -> Content Databases". Move site collections to new DB and remove old DB.

When you remove database from Central Administration -> Application Management -> Content Databases -> Manage Content Database Settings this does not remove a database from the disk. This operation just removes DB from SharePoint. You have
to delete DB manually from the disk.
