Naming
I am trying to find a way to query an OU and find next available object "001, 002, 003...." and assign this value to a %Computername% I see that there is a thread with some examples http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/39eaa0e9-1b24-4123-a072-2a01ed1e7e6b#d73d7914-c8c3-4851-be31-f435cbcc2ebf, but not able to get it to work. Has any one done something similar with naming workstations?

sure thing have two separate steps which are wmi based (on the options tab) one that only runs if a laptop is detected so start with LT001 LT002 and so on, and another for Workstations, eg: DT001, DT002 I have the steps in a task sequence if you want them just let me know cheers niall My Step by Step ConfigMgr Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

I understand this part. However i need to create name with location which i think i can get from the gateway information from CS.ini if i integrate MDT "not sure if that can be done with SCCM". However the second part.....I would like to query an OU in AD to see what number is available next. And then assign that number with the prefix to %ComputerName% Can that be done?

Is there a way to assign a value to a OSDComputerName from the script in the TS or is has to be done from Customsetting.ini file from integrated MDT? Can i add "Set TS variable" task and in the "ts variable" set "OSDComputerName=????" Is there a way to assign an output from the script?
