Name is Read Only?
Hi,
I am provisioning users from FIM to AD. When I try to set an attribute flow to export the Display Name to the AD name attribute, I get a message that "name is read only".
Does anyone know why this is or how I can set the name when the user is synced? (I didn't find anything in the documentation, but I might have overlooked it.)
Many thanks for any help,
Sami

Hi...
Yes... Name attribute is read only... As cn, name is a system attribute.
Why the reason to flow display name to name? when youn create an user, the name attribute is set based on cn value.

Hi Paulo,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
The AD structure we have in place now creates the CN as:
CN=LastName, FirstName MiddleInitial,OU=....
When users are provisioned via FIM it is creating their CN without the comma:
CN=LastName FirstName MiddleInitial
It just happens to be the case that the displayname is also formatted with the comma, which is why I was trying to leverage that.
Am I right that this isn't possible in FIM?
Many thanks again,
Sami

I have the same problem, but to AD LDS. After removing the =>name attribute flow, I now get hit with a "missing required field" error, as "name" is required according to the ADLDS schema.
So I can't assign to it, but it is required. Umm... There's no concept of a read-only attribute in FIM is there?
