Multiple Shared Services Timer Jobs
Hi all, I am experiencing the following problem: This morning I noticed that my AD import wasn't working anymore, when I looked at the log I saw that the last import dated from 18/1. Then I looked at my timer job status list and there I saw that there was an entry for each webfrontend (I have 4 wfe's) with job title "Shared Services Timer Job" but only one of the entry's was recently updated, the entry for the wfe where the ssp is running was last updated on 18/1. After some googling I decided to clear the file system cache on each wfe. This didn't give me the expected result but however when I looked at the timer job status list again I noticed that the last updated entry was from an other wfe. So I decided to stop the Windows SharePoint Services Timer job on all the wfe's expect for the wfe where the ssp is runnig, I forced the timerjobs and now the job is updated in the timer job status list for the right wfe, and now the ad import is running again. After that I started the timer job again on the other wfe's, and everything keeps on working. So I think the Shared Services Timer Job sould only run on the ssp wfe. So I was wondering why this job is installed on all the WFe's and can I delete it from the other wfe's ? Thank's for your feedback. JP Belgium.

Hi all, Since I didn't receive an answer yet, some more info: For the moment I am seeing the following on the Timer Job Status page: Shared Services Timer Job Webfrontend1 Succeeded 100% 2/2/2010 1:59 PM Shared Services Timer Job Webfrontend2 Succeeded 100% 11/26/2009 4:03 PM Shared Services Timer Job Webfrontend3 Succeeded 100% 1/25/2010 1:35 PM Shared Services Timer Job Webfrontend4 Succeeded 100% 1/25/2010 2:17 PM My question is: Is it normal that this job is only updated on Webfrontend1 ? When I restart the timerjob service on all servers it sometimes happens that the job is updated on another server , and that is a problem because then my AD import isn't working anymore. Greetings, JP Belgium
