Multiple SCCM PXE Service Points on same subnets?
Hi all, Question: We have a lab SCCM environment, and our normal production SCCM environment. These two environments share subnets. I'd like to have PXE booting enabled for both environments, on the same subnets, utilizing separate SCCM PXE Service Points. Is this a possible configuration? Based on research, I'm seeing two possibilities: 1. No, it's not a supported configuration. I need to divide up my subnets so I have a true "lab" subnet that forwards requests to my "lab" PXE Service Point. I should use a boot cd for lab deployments, and pxe for production. 2. Somehow export the SCCM boot image from my lab environment and import it into the WDS role of my production environment, then configure a PXE boot delay. This could get messy. or 3. I found various posts and a link on how to make a "server selection" prompt if I have 2008 R2 as my deployment server: http://deployvista.com/Home/tabid/36/EntryID/99/language/en-US/Default.aspx - will this work with PXE Service Points? How does it actually "discover" the other SCCM PXE point server? Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, Yes, you can use multiple PXE on same subnets. See this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680668.aspx If multiple PXE service points are used, enter the number of seconds the PXE service point should wait before responding to PXE requests in the Delay box. Use this option only when there are multiple PXE servers on the same subnet. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. How do you differentiate to which server the client connects?
