One question: This alert is still sent when a server is in maintenance Mode as not managed by the SCOM Agent, isn't it?
Thanks,

Hi Dom, could you pose that last question again in other words? from where to where are you pinging with this pack and what are you placing in MM?Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

Hi Bob, I am using the ICMP Management Pack using the RMS server as node watcher and ping the Client. Thanks, Dom

Well, if you put the RMS in maint mode you will have some problems :-)
If you place the client in MM you will not get the alerts from it. Well that is if you put the ping device in MM lets say. If you both ping it and also have an agent on that "agent" and you place the computer (scom agent part) in MM than the ping MP should
still generate alerts for it.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

The Client was in maintenance Mode I did not get any "Heartbeat Alert" or "Failed to Connect to Computer" but the Ping still send the alert out within the Maintenance Window. Let me check on System central what they say.
Thanks,
Dom

If you don't set your node watcher in MM you'll still get the "ping alert". The watcher node dosen't know that the "ping target" is in MM.. I think this MP is for stuff that dont have an agent and is able to be in MM, like your ISP's router or somthing like
that.
Don't put the RMS in MM....!!!

The answers here are effectively accurate. Situation with remote pings like this is just as when you're monitoring websites remotely. You need to put the watcher node doing the ping into maintenance mode. It is definitely NOT recommended to make the
RMS a proxy for any remote monitoring functions.Pete Zerger, MVP-OpsMgr and SCE | http://www.systemcentercentral.com

Hello,
Any limitations in the number of machine in the text file (aka registry key)?
Could I use a MS as node watcher? (instead of the RMS)
Should it be a separate server?
Thanks,
