Multi-Domain & Exchange Org - Management Tools

Morning All,

I have a slightly left field question that I'm hoping someone can help me with.  I have a client with a quite complex environment that has grown through acquisition but never consolidate their IT.  As a result they now have 3 domains with 3 separate Exchange organisations.  There is also an additional management domain which the admin staff logon to and their accounts in this domain have permissions in all the other domains for general AD admin.  The problem I have is with the Exchange management tools.  Ideally I was thinking the service desk could be presented with a TS with both the Exchange 2007 & 2010 management tools installed with this server deployed on the management domain.  Does anyone know if this scenario can even be catered for?

Kind Regards

Chris

Hi ,

Thank you for your question.

By my understanding, you want to view Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007 with admin account in additional management domain. (if I have misunderstand, please be free to let me know).

After we install Exchange management tool, then open it and click Action->Add Exchange Forest to add other Exchange 2010 sever or Exchange 2007 server. After we add it, Exchange server will be listed in Console tree on the left.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Hi Jim,

Thanks ever so much for you reply.  I have seen the option of adding in multiple Exchange Org's into the 2010 console, a very useful feature indeed.  You are correct in that we have a management domain and we wish to grant the appropriate recipient admins the ability to manage to manage all recipients across the 3 Exchange org's using their credentials from the management domain.  We have setup a terminal server for the admins to logon to, the only issue is when we come to install the Exchange 2010 management console it appears to want to conduct a prepareschema within the management forest.  We do not have Exchange installed in this forest.  Is it possible to install the tools without preparing the schema of the management domain?
