Moving an Existing SharePoint Content Database from one Server to a Standalone Site on a different Server with different Server Names
I am trying to add a content database from our Production Site to a Standalone Site I can attach the database using sqlcmd sp_attach_db just fine but when I use the stsdam addcontentdb command I get an error. It connects to the Server fine but says there is nothing on the other end of the named pipe. Are there tables that reference the Production Server in the content database? If so how can I change this so they have the Standalone servers name in them. What else do I need to change? I can move the default WSS_Content database around all day and add them to SharePoint on the Standalone.

Hi,Please review your steps with my post http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-move-sharepoint-content-database.htmland bes sure of the following: Make sure your running the same service pack level on both source and destination sharepoint if possible. Make sure you install all webparts, solutions, features, etc on new server before you restore the content database, so that it can find all the features it's looking for Best Regards, Ammar MCT http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
