Moving a Subsite to another location
Hi,
I have site collection and in that I have 3 subsites, let say it A, B &C. I have 4 subsites under site B, say B1, B2, B3 & B4. Under the subsite B2 I have 2 subsites let say BB1 & BB2.
I have to move site BB2 to under site B3. Is there another way to do this besides saving the page as a template and then creating it under a new location?
Thanks,

Hi there Kamal,
Try Export / Import - basically the steps are:
1: Create an export of the subsite:
stsadm -o export -url <yoursubsiteurl> -filename yourexportfilename -includeusersecurity
2: Create a blank site at the new location (yournewsubsiteurl)
3: Import the exported site into that location
stsadm -o import -url <yournewsubsiteurl> -filename yourexportfilename
For more information using stsadm -o export / import check this out:
Export

Import

As a precaution, always ensure you have a backup of the site collection before carrying this out.
Hope this helps

Hi Geoff,
is there any anotger way to do this? as this task has to be done by website owner not the administrator.
Thanks,

Web site owners have two options available:
Use SharePoint Designer: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/ha100699391033.aspx
Save the web (what users think of as subsites) as a site template and include its content, then create the new web using that template: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101577791033.aspx?pid=CL100605171033
I'd suggest reading through those two links thoroughly; neither options is necessarily a full-fidelity migration option, but may serve your needs.

*lol*
I've just got back to this thread and found out that you want site owners to do this, not admins - hence yes, Johns answer is the right one - given that he's now found out too! <grin>
Cheers
