Moving a SQL MA to Another Sync Engine Fails
I'm migrating from one lab environment to another and am unable to import a SQL MA. The error message I get when completing the "Connect to Database" phase is as follows: "Failed to retrieve the object types information. No object type has been found in specified object type column." Screenshot: Link in case it doesn't like hot-linking: http://s751.photobucket.com/albums/xx153/jayadair_photos/?action=view&current=sqlmaerror.jpg These are the steps I've followed: Exported the MA in the source Sync Engine Restored the database in the new lab environment. Confirmed the login details work by connecting from another sql server. Imported the MA xml file in the new Sync Engine lab. Got the error on completing the "Connect to Database" step. Google doesn't show any results for this error message, which leaves me at a loss as to what this could be. I thought it might have been a login issue, so created a SQL Server login that had DBO rights, but there was no change. Does anyone know what this might mean, or have any tips on things to look at? Unfortunately I didn't design the db or MA, so am left to prodding and poking for changes!

Hi, You will get this error message if there are no object types currently populated in your DB. Can you please add a few sample rows to your DB that contain all of the valid object types you expect to see? Then, please try to add your MA again. Let us know if this works. -Jeremy

It's likely that the source table is empty on the new database. I've done that more than once when migrating between environments - if you bring over the table schema but not the source data then the MA import will fail when you use a column to indicate the object types.Brad Turner, ILM MVP - Ensynch, Inc - www.identitychaos.com [If a post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of that post. Thanks guys. You're right, there was no data. Oddly there wasn't any in the source database either, but I worked out some sample data, inserted it and created the MA. Kinda annoying that the export/import process doesn't include everything it needs to create the MA.
