Moving SSRS Reports to Sharepoint
Hi! Our organisation is implementing Sharepoint in about a month and Ive been asked to change our system so that our SSRS reports run from sharepoint instead of the normal report manager that we currently use. I dont know much about Sharepoint, but ive always noticed that when installing SSRS you can choose 'Sharepoint Integrated mode' or 'native Mode' (I have always picked Native mode in the past). I was wondering if I have to re-install our Reporting Services instance in Sharepoint integrated mode? Any advice from anyone about migrating the reports would be most welcome. Thanks in advance, Zoe

Hi Zoe, There are two options: 1. Switch to SharePoint Integrated Mode - This option will give you a tight integration with SharePoint and there will be nothing on Report Manager as all your reports will be hosted on a SharePoint library. For details how switch the mode, please see the following articles: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dynamicsgp/archive/2012/03/01/moving-sql-server-reporting-services-from-native-mode-to-sharepoint-integrated-mode.aspx 2. Remain in Native Mode - In this mode, you can deploy your SSRS reports to a SharePoint site through a web part. Report Manager will continue to work as it is. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/husainzgh/archive/2009/02/09/report-viewer-web-parts-for-sharepoint.aspx. Here SSRS is not fully integrated with SharePoint and from what you've descried, this doesn't look like an option for you. Hope this helps! Shahfaisal Muhammed http://shahfaisalmuhammed.blogspot.com

Thanks Shahfaisal! Im guess that continueing to use it in native mode means maintaining the security on the reports in two separate places at once, so I guess the full integration is the way to go? Cheers, Zoe

Yes, that is correct. You'll have to worry about security at two different places.Shahfaisal Muhammed http://shahfaisalmuhammed.blogspot.com
