Moving SCOM from one domain to a new domain
Hi, I have a requirement to move SCOM from abc to xyz domain, as abc domain is going to be decomissioned. As per my understanding, we cannot simply move the SCOM from abc to xyz and we need to re-build the entire SCOM from scratch. Now, My questions are. 1) Can we build the SCOM parallerly in xyz domain ? 2) Can we use the same license key for XYZ ? 3) Please let me know, if movement from abc to xyz is possible without re-building the SCOM ?

there is no documented/supported method for moving Operations Manager from one AD Domain or Forest to another. From a supported perspective, you will need to stage a new management group in the destination domain and migrate your MPs, configuration settings, and agents in a phased manner. http://www.myitforum.com/forums/Migrate-SCOM-RMS-and-Database-Servers-to-new-domain-m190293.aspx Roger

Hi, If there is a two-way trust between domains you can install additional MS in a new domain then move RMS role (or RMS emulator in 2012) to it. Then switch agents to new MS and decomission old MS. Also you need to move SCOM DBs to new server in new domain (the trust still must exist) . But I suggest you to setup a new clean environment as you can waste a time if you have not done it before. as for licence if you have the same versions and want to decomission one MG and install new one you can use the same license in new environment.
