Moving Databases from 32bit to 64bit
I feel i am close to resolving this but need to clarify the steps with someone. I have an old sharepoint server that is 32 bit. I have installed a new server that is 64 bit. I have made sure both sharepoint version numbers are the same. I have then created a web app on the new server and named it the same as the old servers web app. I have not at this stage created a Site Collection. I have then backed up using Central Admin on the old server. I have attached the WSS_Content.mdf database to the New Server. I have changed the DNS path to point to the new server. I have shut down the old server and tried to browse to the site using the same URL, but the site does not show. I dont know what databases to move, these are listed below: Master.mdf Model.mdf msdbdata.mdf Sharepoint_Admin (I dont think i need to move this one) Sharepoint_Config (I dont think i need to move this one) Tempdb.mdf WSS_Content.mdf WSS_Content.mdf (Moved) WSS_Search(servername).mdf Can anyone please help me understand what i need to do in order to resolve this.

Did you delete the Content_Db from the new WebApp prior to Adding the Content_Db you moved. When you browse to manage Content_Db http://CentralAdmin/_admin/CNTDBADM.aspx what is the Current Number of Sites that are shown in the Content_Db Also, if your browsing to the new site froim the server hosting the site. You may need to add the Sitename to the List of backConnections. When you use the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or a custom host header to browse a local Web site that is hosted on a computer that is running Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.1 or a later version, you may receive an error message that resembles the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 -IvanIvan Sanders My LinkedIn Profile, My Blog, @iasanders.

I deleted the Content_db from the new app after i added the new Content_db. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but is that the full url ( http://centraladmin/_admin/CNTDBADM.aspx) i need to use or do i need to replace the _admin with something specific to the server? Also do i need to move any of the other databases? I have just browsed to the above site but using the browse option within IIS and i have 1 site.

Remove the Content_Db and Add it again, it has to be added after the other Content_db is deleted.... -IvanIvan Sanders My LinkedIn Profile, My Blog, @iasanders.

Ok i have removed the db and added it again, i have stopped the sql engine on the old server and re-pointed the DNS to the new Sharepoint server, using the same url i am getting an error message saying that i am not authorized to view the page. Is there some permissions somewhere i need to add? I have checked IIS and they are identical and also added the URL in the trusted Sites. Also when opening SPD i dont see any of the old websites listed.
