Move the database from the SCE server to another SQL server after an install
Is there a way that I can move the SCE database to another SQL box after I've already installed SCE? SQL is killing my processor and I want to move the Database off to a SQL 2005 box with more than enough horse power.

We do not support moving the database to a new server. The only support we really have for something like this isthe backup/recovery scenario:
1. Backup all 3 databases and the WSUS content directory (C:\SCE)
2. Reinstall SCE to a server with the same name, and select a SQL instance with the same name as the previous installation
3. Stop the services, detach the databases, and attach the backed up databases.
4. Repair all agent if Local Policy option was used.

What about using a SQL Alias to point to the new SQL server? Is that a posibility?

I did use a SQL Alias to point SCE 2007 to a new SQL server and that worked just fine for me.
