Move document (and versions) from one library and/or site to another?
I may be at searches, but I couldn't find anything related to this... Honest, I looked! Is there a way to move a file from library to library and make sure that the versions make the trip also? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

One way I use that is easy and quick. 1)Open the current library in windows explorer. (Actions drop down menu -> Open with Windows Explorer) 2)Cut/copy the files you desire. 3)Open the library you want to paste files into using windows explorer view. 4)Paste the files. Other way I use is travelling through sharepoint through My Network Places. Search for My Network Places setup and sharepoint (or something like that). This is just like moving through network drives. Or click on the file drop down and send to. Fill out the receiving url. **No idea if the versions travel with the document. I suspect not. Test this out with the various methods.

Yes. Make sure versioning is turned on in the destination library. Then, from Site Actions, use "Manage Content and Structure". Navigate to the file(s) you wish to move, then check them in the right pane. From the menu select Actions -> Move... Another dialog will appear allowing you to choose the destination document library. Please note you cannot move documents into a different site collection using this method.

Great! Thanks for such a quick response... Can't help but ask another question... Can the document be renamed in the new library and still maintain the versions?

Yes... after the move check out the document and edit its properties to change the name field. Once it is moved, this action is no different than if you renamed the file in its original location, so you could rename first and then move as well.
