Move columns in table using BIDS?
Call me crazy, but I can't figure out how to do something as simple as change the order of the columns in a report without cutting and pasting. Is there someway to reorder columns easily? Say like drag and drop like every other grid on the face of the planet supports?

Unfortunately, we don't support moving columns yet. In simple detail tables, moving columns is a simple reordering operation. On more complex structures, moving columns means surgically restructuring the tablix, likely requiring a restructuring of groups in the tablix also. For example, if you have two groups Geography and Product where Product is a child of geography, moving the column for product likely means you also want to change the grouping such that geography is now a child of product. That's a relatively simple structural change, with tablix, much more complex transformations could be necessary. We just didn't get to that in SQL 2008, sorry. We hope to add it to a future release.

Hi Carolyn Chau, is this feature now implemented in SQL Server 2008 R2? Or is there another way to make columns in a tablix moveable. Thanks Johnny

Two years later - still waiting on this feature. Could I suggest a partial implementation for the simple cases, greyed out for the complex cases? Thanks, Corey Furman @ Facebook ______________________________________________________ Please mark posts as answer or helpful when they are.
