We have WSS 3.0 running on a Windows 2003 R2 server, and the database is on another SQL server. We will convert the 2003 server into a virtual machine, and also will move the database into the same VM as well. What do I need to do the migrate the database? And will I lose anything such as content and configuration? Thank.

Changing the location of the database is the only gotcha here...you might be better off creating a vm from the ground up, then restore the database onto it since you need to add sql to it. Best regards, s'
