Move MOSS 2007 configuration and content databases to SQL 2008 / R2 server.
Hello I am having number of issues after moving all my MOSS 2007 databases from SQL 2005 server to SQL 2008 R2 server. If anyone have experienced this migration or have suggestion to resolve my issues, Please share My MOSS 2007 farm have SP 2 and at 12.0.0.6514 pack level. I am following this blog http://sharepointsherpa.com/2008/04/18/sharepoint-2007-move-content-and-configuration-databases/ but it does not mentioned SQL 2008 /R2 After restored the databases and follow the steps, to be sure, I run the configuration wizard and it too completed successfully with the new config DB and SQL 2008 / R2 server. I was able to open central admin page.. so far so good.. Until I tried to run stsadm to remove current web application content database and run stsadm to addcontentdb to add the content database on the new SQL 2008 R2 server then i got this error: "The specified SPContentDatabase Name=xxxxx Parent=SPDatabaseServiceInstance Name=xxxxx have been upgraded to a newer version of SharePoint. Please upgrade this SharePoint application server before attempting to access this object." So the server is at 12.0.0.6514, what version of SharePoint do I need to upgrade? Is this possible at all or it is the big mistake on my part for not checking or i am missing something? Thanks in advance for any responds Swanl

You could try updating both installations with a newer cumulative update just to make sure they are in fact on the same version. http://www.sharepointdevwiki.com/display/SharePointAdministrationWiki/SharePoint+Versions -Jeff Jeff Holliday, MCTS - Solutions Architect - Portals and Collaboration - Ensynch, Inc

Jeff I only have one MOSS server and the other is the database server with 2008 / R2 where i moved the current content DB to it. I will try to upgrade to the newer CU and see if that will work. Thanks for the advice Swanl
