Move FIM 2010 Database
I'm looking for documentation for moving FIM's backend databases from one SQL 2008 server to a another SQl 2008 server. So far I only found documentation for moving MIIS 2003's databases. I'm assuming conceptually it is the same, but wanted to be sure. And Ideally I wanted to provide my client with up-to-date documentation.

Mike, About which of FIM's DBs are you talking - as you probably know, there are multiple DBs involved. If you are talking about the FIM Sync service DB, it is indeed the same process. Paul.Paul Loonen (Avanade) | MCM: Directory 2008 | MVP: ILM

Yep, I'm talking about the FIM sync service DB. So it's basically a re-install of the FIM Synch Service? I'm referring to this technet article -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708637(WS.10).aspx

Indeed, that would be the supported way to do this. Instead of backing up and restoring, you can also detach the database, move it to the new SQL Server and attach it there.Paul Loonen (Avanade) | MCM: Directory 2008 | MVP: ILM
