Most reliable way to tie workstations to users?
I have a client that wants to upgrade to SCCM from an existing solution but they have a special requirement. They have a chargeback system to bill departments for workstations. It is crucial to them that they are able to accurately tie workstations
to users for inventory reporting.
In the past I have generated user reports by last logged-in user or enabled network login profile in the sms_def.mof but in their case I want to provide a more accurate method. The existing solution they have involves a technician entering
the user ID into the registry during build time and their existing asset management software scans for that registry key. They want to go zero touch OSD and I want to help them automate this step.
So, for those of you who have encountered a situation like this, what tricks have you found to accurately tie users to PCs?
Thanks!
