Monitoring Performance for an ASP Website
Hello, Where could I find the list of Monitors/Rules/Reports which could be provide by SCOM for Monitoring Performance of an ASP Website? I see OLE DB Data Source, TCP Port, Web Application, Windows Service in the Authoring > Management Pack template but not ASP.NET Application, ASP.NET Web Service as it is writtent in the documentation... Do I need to load a special MP? Thanks, Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

Hi Alexey, from the Licensing stuff: ............................................................................................................................................................................................... AVIcode is available exclusively in connection with the purchase of System Center Server Management Suite Enterprise (SMSE), System Center Server Management Suite Datacenter (SMSD), Core Infrastructure Server (CIS) Suite Enterprise, or Core Infrastructure Server (CIS) Suite Datacenter. Any SMSE, SMSD, CIS Suite Enterprise, or CIS Suite Datacenter customer with active Software Assurance (SA) on or between October 5, 2010 and October 30, 2012 is being offered AVIcode software from Microsoft’s AVIcode subsidiary at no additional charge. AVIcode is no longer sold as a standalone product. AVIcode is not part of SMSE, SMSD, CIS Suite Enterprise, or CIS Suite Datacenter. It is a separate product offered by the AVIcode subsidiary to license holders of the Microsoft suites at no additional charge. Software Assurance does not cover AVIcode support because SA is only for volume licensing (VL) products. Support for AVIcode software is available through the Pay-Per-Incident program and Premier. As with all System Center technologies, any Server Operating System Environment (OSE) that is managed by AVIcode requires a license. ............................................................................................................................................................................................... It does not seem AVICode is part of System Center Operations Manager? Any idea? Hi Dom, if your company has purchased the SMSE, SMSD, or CIS suite and with Software assurance is entitled to a copy of Avicode. In the future, the Avicode functionality will be integrated into Operations Manager 2012. for ASP.net, however there are a number of counters and events that are created by ASP.net that you can use the current authoring templates to watch for things like spikes in exceptions, average response times, etc. Additionally you can use normal web monitoring with your web sites that are ASP.net based. It would be totally possible to make a basic ASP.net management pack (I don't see a third party offering or community Mp for this today). DanMicrosoft Corporation

Thanks Dan and Alexey. I will check if we have an agreement for the products cited. But in the meantime I will choose the path specified by Dan to do a Custom MP for basic ASP.NET stuck. Apparently I saw ASP .NET Application Library MP version 6.0.6566.0 , released 2009-03-20 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/f580d533-5ef5-43ab-9c0c-974cc0f609e6/ but I could not find it on the Pinpoint site??? did the name change? should I use Web Application Template as i don't have ASP template. Also on http://www.systemcentercentral.com/Forums/tabid/60/categoryid/4/indexid/60219/Default.aspx I think i am missing a MP anyway... I am confused... they are talking about Microsoft .NET Management Pack ??? I was missing ASP .NET Application Library MP version 6.0.6566.0 , released 2009-03-20 now I am able to see in Authoring ASP .NET Application and ASP .NET Web Service... thanks Dan and Alexey ... Happy 4th !!!! Thanks again, Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager
