Hi Kitaab
First you have to discover the printers and then you will need to get the Name, location, and other basic SNMP get information.
You can use SNMP probe rules and monitors. You have to get MiB tables for printers and choose what you want to monitor.

The best way is to create your own monitors is to read Pete Zerger snmp article.

Hi Kitaab,
As
far as I know HP do not have a MP for HP printers. Perhaps the
Windows Server Print Server Monitoring MP can help you?

Hi Dktoa,
Doesn't the "Windows server Print Server Monitoring Mp" primarily monitor the print servers and the Queues?

Hi,
If the printers support SNMP, please refer to the methods in the following thread:
Monitoring printer problems with SNMP

If you are using Windows Server Print Server, you can try the management pack for Windows Server Print Server:
Windows Server Print Server Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007

In addition, some manufacturers also provide the management packs for their products, you can also contact HP for help:

I know this has been marked as answered, but you can also use WMI for this, as long as the print server is not clustered as WMI doesn't work against the virtual server name.Layne, 2011 Microsoft Community Contributor Recipient
