Now I have all sorts of problems with hardware scan reports and queries not returning correct results. what is the best course of action? Wait for SP2? Go to a backup?

TIA

How did you apply it to your r2 site?

Exactly what error are getting?

Requested the patch and downloaded, installed to my primary site, got no errors here. From the moment computers n longer report hardware inventories and do not see to updated the DB

Many computers show

Inventory: (87d00224) Invalid message element (ReportType)

CInvState::ProcessMessage: ParseMessage() failed: 87D00224

there are no new time stamps for HW inventory

Update:

It took a very long while, but machine start reporting this morning, although I am still not sure of I am looking at more problems.

Did you deploy the CU5 agent update to the clients? Not that not doing this should cause these issues, just verifying.

Also note that SP1 came out on Thursday of last week: http://blog.configmgrftw.com/service-pack-madness/

I did, it is still going, and computers start to slowly report HW inv and other status queries.

I did not see the SP1 on the volume license or MSDN yet, all I saw was the trial versions which I am trying to avoid since we have the enterprise agreement.

BTW, thanks for the great SP clarification write-up, may be MS should let you do it for them from now on.

The downloads available for the evals is exactly the same as what will be on MSDN and MVLS. They are fully supported to use to upgrade a site to R2 SP1.
