Missing web sites after connecting WS_Content afer new installation
I see the links in web application's site collection list but how do your rstore each web site and all the data? It appears right now I just have links listed and the url does not open up to any previous web site that existed. The Sharepoint server failed and a new install of Sharepoint 2007 was installed. The SQL Server resides on a different server without any problems reconnecting. Thanks for any help.

If I understand correctly, you reattached the content DB to the new farm after a rebuild. You may have to detach and re attach the content database once again to sync up entries between the config and the content db. You can do it from SharePoint central administration.

Yes, I was following MS instructions on attaching content db and I have done it twice now.Created new web application first and connected to the content db.So I see the site collection links but the websites have not been restored.

Hi,please detach the content d from the web application then try the followinguse STSADM to add the content DB to this web appfrom c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extentions\12\bin on new server is where you can find the STSADM.run this command from there.stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://yourwebapp:port -databasename yourcontentdb -databaseserver yoursqlserverRun ISSRESET from command prompt Make sure your running the same service pack level on both source and destination sharepoint if possible. Make sure you install all webparts, solutions, features, etc on new server before you restore the content database, so that it can find all the features it's looking for Best Regards, Ammar MCT http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Windows AuthenticationI have one website working because I added another WSS_Content_numbers...and added another WSS_Content_numbers... but this web site page display Error within SP. I still have two major websites down and I don't have any more WSS_Content_numbers dbs to add as content db.In all I have added 3 content dbs with 1 website running out of 7 websites.Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank very much.

This may sound silly but you may want to check if the name of the content db is the same. It has happened to me once where a space between the characters in the name created a whole new content db instead of attaching the previous one. Since you are following the same process for both the databases, I dont see a reason why one should work and the other should not. Also, can u post the error message that u get?

Hello AllI decided to restored WSS_Content db from a backup. Still had the same issues with websites not being restored.I went ahead and uninstalled SP2007 and reinstalled SP to start over. After adding the WSS_Content I still have the same results.I see the web sites in the Sites Collection list but: 1. One website does not appear at all when typing in the url, HTTP 404 not found error. This website contains inputted data like inventory.2. Two websites produced a Sharepoint webpage, ERROR, Go back to site, results page.3. Two websites are restored both containing attached documents.Of course the website that is not restored is the most important one.Any other suggestions?

I guess you have a case of an orphaned site here. This site might have been orphaned from the config DB. what happens when u try to run a stsadm command to delete the site? If this gets deleted, then you can try detaching and reattaching the database again. Also, you would need to try the detach and attach with the following stsadm operationshttp://blogs.technet.com/corybu/archive/2007/06/01/detaching-databases-in-moss-2007-environments.aspxLet me know if this works for you.

I ran the stsadm to find out if I had any orphans.stsadm -o databaserepair -url http://Web/sites/Site -databasename <DatabaseName><OrphanedObjects Count="0" />
