Hi, Windows 7 is reported at NT workstation 6.1. Don't you have any information about the OS if you select System Resource, Operating System name and version in a query?Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi If I make a query, where is no criteria, and I would like to display the computer system/name, and something from Operating System (like name, or description ), I got a list, without windows 7 PC's. Now I found, that the windows 2008 server even not reported the Operating system section. So all the "Operating system" missing in resource explorer. Any idea? Tortellini

Hi There is no information collected from win7 or win2008 named Operating system. So no information under it too. :( If I chose system resource -> oerating system -> Caption, I can't see in the list win7 or win2008 I need collecting the Operating system - > description. There where we store information about the owner of the computer, where it is.. and so on... And these worked while we used only XP. Tortellini

A couple of questions: 1. has inboxes\clifiles.src\hinv\sms_def.mof been customized? specifically, anything to do with win32_operatingsystem, or are there TWO sections for win32_operatingsystem? (the original, and a new custom one)? 2. in your sms_def.mof, if there is only 1 section for win32_operatingsystem, if you take your original source media for ConfigMgr, and look in the default sms_def.mof, compare the original win32_operatingsystem vs. the one you have in production. Check for changes. 3. Is it possible you have multiple Primary sites, and your win7/win2k8 boxes report to one, while the older ones report to another? If so, compare the sms_def.mof files on the different primary sites; check for differences in the win32_operatingsystem sections. 4. On a machine which DOES report the operating system section correctly, and on a machine which does NOT report the operating system section correctly, carefully look at the inventoryagent.log files on each; carefully compare the line after Select <whatever> from win32_operatingsystem, as well as note the line directly following, especially if that line says "does not exist out".Standardize. Hi 1: I customized the sms_def.mof. The only change I made is that I change all the FALSE to TRUE under win32_operatingsystem. So there are 1 win32_operatingsystem section. 2: The only difference is that I wrote: I changed all the FALSE to TRUE 3: I have only 1 Primary site. 4: I found in the log with win32_operatingsystem : Unknown error encountered processing an instance of class Win32_OperatingSystem: 80041017 These is from win2k8 x64 Thanks for your help Tortellini
