Missing client on server
We have 1 central and 6 primary sites. On one of our primary sites I just noticed there is no SCCM client. I've looked in both c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\syswow64 and there is no CCM folder to be found. I also searched the HD for CCM and Cas.log and they are not found. The MP uses log files in Syswow64\CCM correct? So if the client is missing will this mess up our primary server? mqh7

check it on the Drive where your SCCM installed, you would see SMS_CCM folder which contains logs folders for sccm client. Please click on "vote as Helpful" if you feel this post helpful to you. Eswar Koneti | My Tech blog: www.eskonr.com | Linkedin: Eswar Koneti

Yes, that did find it. C:\Program Files (x86)\SMS_CCM\Logs but why there and not under \syswow64\ccm ?? Thanks. mqh7

First, having the client installed on a site server is not required; the server will work fine without it. If you install the client agent on a site system/server also hosting an MP, the two will share the same directory (and thus logs file directory) because the two share core functionality and components. Whichever was installed first determines where the other gets installed. In this case, the MP was installed first and thus the client was installed into the default MP location. For future reference, the easy way to figure out where the client agent is installed at is to check the properties of the SMS Agent Host (ccmexec) service.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com
