Missing PackageStart / PackageEnd event
Since SQL SErver 2005 SP3, I remarked that PackageStart/PackageEnd events are not fired anymore for child packages. I used to have events of the child package bubble up to the master one, but now (after SP3) only warning and error do. Because of this, we do not know anymore the exeuction duration of child packages. Is this intended to be solved (as it seems clearly to be a bug) or do we have to implement some kind of custom logging using event handler as a workaround in the meantime ? This is very annoying as it will require to change ALL child packages. Any suggestion to keep logging simple and stay with the idea of "bubbling up" events to the master packages ? Thanks in advance.

No, this seems to be intentional, in SSIS 2008 you do not get even any events by default logged. Go implement your own logging. See custom logging examples: http://consultingblogs.emc.com/jamiethomson/archive/2005/06/11/SSIS_3A00_-Custom-Logging-Using-Event-Handlers.aspxArthur My Blog
