Minimum level of permissions to manage lists

Hi,

Recently I have taken up Sharepoint 2013 exam and I got bit confused for one of the question i.e

You are managing a site collection in  a sharepoint farm

You need to configure minimum level of permissions necessary for users to manage lists in the site collection .What permission level should you configure?

Options are Edit,Full control ,contribute and Limited Access.

I feel that both Edit,Full control are applicable but I couldnt come to conclusion. Please share your opinion the same.

Regards,

In order to manage a list (e.g. make changes to columns or other list settings), you need Full Control over the list.  Alternatively, you need the Manage List right at the Site Collection level.

the only difference between for Edit and full control on the list is "override List-Behaviors", which is included in the Full Control. So its depend do you want to offer your user to discard or check in a document which is checkout by another user?See table below for complete reference.

This was a tricky question. I found out that the answer was not full control for Minimum permissions to perform the task. The answer is actual "edit" because that would the least amount you need. I tested this on a dev box.

According to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc721640(v=office.15).aspx

Edit is used to manage lists. However Limited Access can be used to enable users to access a specific list combined with fine-grained permissions like Manage Lists as a user permission. This would provide the most restrictive access.
