Migrating to an existing SCOM 2007 R2 RMS
Good afternoon, I need to move my SCOM R2 RMS to a new server. Is there prescriptive guidance from MSFT on how the steps to do this? I have seen the following links but I'm not sure if they relate to R2. http://cameronfuller.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!A231E4EB0417CB76!908.entry?sa=170781170 http://bradstechblog.com/scom/promoting-ms-to-rms-use-with-caution Any suggestions / links / experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks, Shane

Hey Shane its really as straight forward as promoting an existing management server to RMS. So the things you need are 1: A secure key backup from the rms http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309563.aspx 2: Follow Camerons blog 3: You will need to change your SCOM console to connect to the new RMS. Some points to thing of are If you have the WEB console deployed on the RMS using Kerberos then it has to be moved too Maybe take a backup of all your unsealed MP's Good SQL backup... Its quite a simple process and I have only seen it go bad once and I just rolled back...Paul Keely
