Migrate Sharepoint Site SQL Server to another domain
Hi everyone, We currently are integrating with our parent company's domain and we want to move our SharePoint SQL server to the parent domain. It is a simple setup of 1 FE and 1 SQL server in domain Alpha running MOSS 2007 Enterprise and we need to move JUST the SQL server to the Beta domain. The parent domain is trusted so is there any problem with just converting the SQL server as-is to the parent domain? Will this mess up our SharePoint databases at all? If this will mess up our SharePoint data, what steps should I take to convert the SQL server to the new domain? Our users are currently using their Beta domain credentials to access the SharePoint sites so I don't think this should be an issue. Thank you for your help and suggestions.

Hi,I donot think this to be an issue as long as the service account using which you are running the sharepoint farm is not affected on both the domains. The steps I would suggest -1> remove the SQL server from the server farm by running the configuration wizard and disconnecting it.2> I assume you are keeping the server name as the same and you are changing the domain name only. So you go ahead and make the changes.3> Once done, i guess it will ask for a reboot.4> once reboot is done, go and check for the SQL services and see if everything is running fine. Also verify the service account permissions are still the same as it was before.5> then go to the sharepoint server. run the configuration wizard and connect to the existing farm..Hope this helps.....
