Migrate DP to another server
I want to move our distribution point from one server to another that will have the same name and will be on the same drive, same share. I have robocopied all of the folders to the new server. Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I have to delete the DP and then recreate it at which point I would have to re-add all of the packages to the DP which is what Im trying to avoid.

How would SCCM know that it is not the same DP? It would have the same server name and is on the same drive and folder as the old DP server? Could the IIS stuff be recreated somehow? any registry keys to worry about? Anything I could copy over from the old server that would make it work?

Honestly I do not know if xcopy will work or not. I was just stating there's a supported solution for secondary sites but not for stand alone DP's. It might work but I don't think it's going to be a supported solution and I personally never use stand alone DP's so I have zero experience to speak from so all I can go by is the docs and what's supported. I will however be the first to admit that sometimes we have to venture away from supported scenarios to get our jobs done. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |
