Microsoft support to MOSS ceasing?
Hi, I heard in a post in Oct 2012 that Microsoft will not be supporting MOSS. Is this correct information? Pallavi

I suspect Stefan will pop along and provide the appropriate links but generally a product is supported 12 months after its major Service Pack. MOSS/WSS SP3 was released back in October. You're probably thinking about support for SP2 rather than the whole product.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

LOL! Here I am. When talking about support we have to differentiate between mainstream and extended support phase. Mainstream support is the timeframe when customers can request hotfixes for the product. Extended support is the timeframe where only security related hotfixes will be released and no regular hotfixes can be requested (except if the customer has a special extended hotfix support agreement). For support cases which are not related to hotfix requests there are no major differences between the mainstream and the extended support timeframe. Mainstream support for MOSS 2007 will end Oct. 9th, 2012 Extended Support for MOSS 2007 will end Oct. 10th, 2017 Here is the link to the official information: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=11373Stefan Goner Senior Escalation Engineer - Microsoft CSS This post is provided "AS IS" with no warrenties and confers no rights.
