Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0 with existing Reports Manager
I am relatively new to SSRS, so I might not be using the right terms... I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 version 9.0.30729 and would like to upgrade to use some of the new functionality with Report Builder 3.0. Without upgrading the web side (Report Manager), will I be able to publish reports to the web using Report Builder 3.0? Thanks in advance for responses. Dean

Hi Dean, Report Builder 3.0 is designed to support SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) 2008 R2. However, it can publish reports to SSRS 2008 too. But, please note, the new features supported by SSRS 2008 R2 won't be avaiable in SSRS 2008. In this case, are you using SSRS 2008 R2? If so, we can use Report Builder 3.0 to deploy reports to the report server("the web side (Report Manager)") of course. If using SSRS 2008, please make sure the reports designed in Report Builder 3.0 don't include any new feature that is only supported in SSRS 2008 R2(e.g. Lookup). For more information about what's new in SSRS 2008 R2, please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms170438.aspx If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
