Microsoft Documents on subsite when accessed, ask credentials over internet

Hello Folks,

I am facing a credential issue when I try to access a Microsoft Document over the internet which is stored in a picture library on a subsite. It asks for Username and Password which is causing the problem. Well it works fine on Intranet.

Example: http://www.ABC.in/Programs/ProgramCourseModule/SYLLABUS.XLSX

Browser Details: I am using IE 8.

Appreciate if someone could help me out here.

Hi RajputTooCool,

Based on your description, you come across an issue when you want to visit SharePoint via Internet.

If we want to put the SharePoint site to the Internet, we need to set up the Alternate Access Mapping to the web application in Central Administration.

Here is a detail article about how to open the site for Internet access:

Hi, Linda Zhang.

Thank you so much for replying. I have had checked this mapping. Yet I was unable to reach the desired solution. Later I checked the access level of the Picture Library where the documents were stored and there I found the issue. I gave Read permission to the subsite visitors which was displaying as Limited Access. Now user can see 2 option when the try to download a file (SAVE and CANCEL). Thanks for your reply. See you again.
