Microsoft Config manager integration with Intune - Device enrollment method and requirements

Hi Team,

We have on premise config manager already managing windows 8.1 devices in the network. All devices are domain joined.

Now we have requirement to manage the same devices through config manager + Intune integration. Devices will still remain domain joined (Corporate owned devices). What should be the right way to enroll these devices online?

- Is it recommended to enroll such devices by installing Intune client or with MDM (installing Intune company portal)?

- Since same device is part of domain and have config manager client already installed, is it the criteria to influence choice of management strategy (Intune Client software or MDM (Intune company portal)?

- What are the requirements for each of these scenarios like certificates, sideloading signing key etc.

- is it a supported scenario with EMS to manage domain joined, config manager client with config manager + Intune?

- I am wondering if we go with intune client installation to manage devices, would it allow us to manage the devices through config manager admin console (we say single glass of pane)?

- any reference link that would guide deciding the device enrollment and management strategy in such scenarios (Domain joined and already managed through congig manager client)

Any pointers, suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The ConfigMgr & Intune clients cannot co-exist on a device. You must choose one or the other. ConfigMgr will give the better management experience.

Hi Gerry/Team,

Thanks for the input. Does that mean Config manager client + MDM could work (enroll device using Microsoft Intune company portal) ?

Does domain joined devices could be managed through Intune Client ( if no config manager client on it)?

Now my understanding is Config manager + Intune integration is actually only for BYOD devices and not an option for corporate owned devices (domain joined and have config manager client on it). Thanks.
