Microsoft.MetadirectoryServicesEx removed from GAC?
I have a server running the FIM 2010 Sync Engine only.
It appears that the Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices DLL is not in the GAC on this machine.
If I look on a server running the web service then I see this DLL in the GAC.
This is a pretty big change from earlier versions. Was this change intentional?
It seems that it becomes much more difficult to rev the DLL in the new world. A new DLL woul dneed to be copied to every folder where custom extensions are being developed. It also makes it more difficult for partners to develop third-party apps. We can
no longer rely on having the DLL in the GAC.
Does anyone have any more information on this?
Thanks!

We don’t GAC Microsoft.MetadirectoryServicesEx.dll at all.

Can you confirm that it is NOT GAC'd on a server running the service and/or the portal. My earlier inviestigation showed that it was GAC'd on a portla server but was not GAC'd on a server where the Sync Engine was installed without the portal.
