My client has accidentaly deleted all MA's(MV). The portal still has 5000 users. Can you join users in the portal with HR , AD, other connectors. It doesnt appear do it in dev, with the provisioning rules off. Any thoughts??

This is definately possible, but perhaps you might have to tweak your configuration a bit. First step is indeed to disable provisioning (in the sync engine options). Then I would do a full import and full sync on the FIM MA to get your objects in the MV. However here you might have to modify your attribute precedence configuration. Suppose you have AccountName being flown in from AD or HR, you might temporarily want to add FIM as the primary contributor. If you don't do this, the accountName will not be populated in the MV and hence you can't use it to perform joins... Once you got your objects in the MV, with the correct attributes populated (those you want to join objects on), all you have to do is make sure you have proper join rules in place. I myself like adding some on the classic MA. Then you do a full import on the HR MA, and try picking one object of it and do some sync prview. See if it joins up. Repeat for the AD MA.
