Metadata Navigation & Descendants

Hi,

My first time posting here so I hope I got the correct category :)

Currently I'm working on a project which is a Media Library, more precisely a document lib, with it's threshold set to 50.000 items, currently containing ~22k (yes I know it's not a good solution but I just ported it from 2010 to '13 and different ideas got thrown out).

Also Metadata Navigation was set up and it's working mostly fine, except that sometimes when clicking on a term, it just does not include the term's descendants. I have tried to recreate the situation but I just cannot find a reason why some of them work and others dont.

- It cant be the numbers of returned results, because for example I got Term "A" with 8 descendants, which all get included when clicking the term and alltogether they return 15k items.

- Then I thought maybe it's special characters, because some of the Terms contain some of those: "( ) @ / ' "
But again - I found other Termsets which include all descendants, which also contain the characters.

- Finally I started comparing URLs and found this: "-TaxDesc=0" in the #ServerFilter parameter of the results that DONT include it's descendants, but sadly not a single hit on google for an explanation why this is created, where it comes from or what to do with it. I tried changing it to =1 or delete it from the URL and reload the page, but nothing happened.

So, does anyone have any Idea why some of my Terms just dont include descendants and maybe also what it's got to do with the "-TaxDesc=0" Param?

I'll gladly provide more Info if needed...

Thanks & Cheers,
Martin

//Edit#1:
I just accessed the Termstore with Powershell and counted the Descendants for the Sets that dont work -
Term 'A': 275 Children
Term 'B': 392 Children
Term 'C': 785 Children

Hi Martin,

Please put your cursor to Managed Navigation issue term, and check if the hover text is:

"filter on this term only"                                 OR
"filter on this term and all terms below it"

If you click on the term, it will switch between this two option.

If you create a new term with some child terms, does the issue occur?
