Message ID 30001 always preceeded by 30000 when modifying a package (Create then Modify)
Morning all,I've just added a dashboard to help keep track of the metrics for SCCM for things like the number of packages, collections, adverts etc created in the current month, last month etc. After I added it it highlighted something interesting about our packages. It was saying that our package creation numbers were almost the same as our modifications. On doing a bit more digging and looking at the "Packages Created, Modified, or Deleted" Status Message Query it shows that for EVERY modification (Message ID 30001) it's preceeded by a Package Creation message (ID 30000) which is also preceeded by another 30001 modification message, but logged as Unknown machine, Unknown SMS Application and by user "NT Authority\System"so:12/02/2010 11:22:37 TB28214 Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.dll 30001 User "Domain\User" modified the Package Properties of a package named " Gold Image 32-Bit " (SC100119).12/02/2010 11:22:37 TB28214 Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.dll 30000 User "Domain\User" created a package named " Gold Image 32-Bit " (SC100119).12/02/2010 11:22:37 Unknown Machine Unknown SMS Application 30001 User "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" modified the Package Properties of a package named " Gold Image 32-Bit " (SC100119).Now this is similar to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958598 but that says it only relates to 30000 messages for RTMA and i'm on SP2 R2 and getting this with 30001 messages.Things are still working fine, but it makes life practically impossible to measure what changes people are making to the configmgr infrastructure.Anyone any ideas?Cheers,SBhttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS08-067.mspx If you don't ever patch anything, for god sake make sure this patch is on.......
