Mass storage driver & model to use in task sequence in Configmgr 2007 SP2
How to find out the mass storage driver & its right controller to be used for a particular system (laptop or desktop) to add these to 'Apply Driver Package' step in task sequence for OSD in Configuration manager. This for installing Windows XP SP3 OS onto the systems in question. Also find out whether SATA RAID/AHCI/IRRT mode be used for the system. And then how to decide which driver from the driver package is to be used for the storage controller ( mass storage). I am looking for a generic method to find this out for any machine ,make or model which is to be installed using OSD in CM.

easy way to find out is to check the device manager on a computer that is already installed with an OS as i show you here once you've identified it you need to add support for it in the task sequence as demonstrated here Step by Step Configuration Manager Guides > 2012 Guides | 2007 Guides | I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Hi Niall, Many thanks for your reply. Regarding your guide on 'how to identify Mass Storage Drivers',I have a question, It tells me to match the hardware Ids of the IDE controller in device manager to the PCI/VEN DEV Ids in TXTSETUP.OEM .You have mentioned that it has matched to the following line in Harware.Ids.scsi section. But i could not find a match in there to the hardware Ids in device managers(screenshot '_id=8546',the last one). I didnt understand, what part of the hardware Ids is found matching? Please help me understand this.
