Mass Storage Drivers Windows XP SP3 Image
Hello,I am having problems with setting up the apply drivers package with the Mass Storage Drivers. It appears that the Dell E4300 will not take the SATA driver. Is there any dummy proof material out there to help describe step by step what to do to get an XP image to be hardware independent and inject drivers even when using SATA mass storage drivers?I seem to be running in circles, I have managed to create an image but I cannot get the Mass Storage drivers to install. I get the BSOD 7b error. It does seem to work with the 755 though... Anyone else experiencing difficulties with the Dell Latitude E4300?

Are you using an Apply Driver task in your task sequence to specifically inject the proper SATA driver? Did you create the image on a system without SATA drivers? Did you check the buld mass storage drivers checkbox for the prepare Windows (Sysprep) task when building the image?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys

HiI wrote this blog a few months ago. Try that. How I handle boot critical drivers (mass storage drivers) for Windows XP in ConfigMgr OS deployment http://uje.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!DAE27042D25E8A2A!215.entryUlrik Skadhauge Jensen http://uje.spaces.live.com

I am using the apply driver package in task sequence, then applying the mass storage drivers. (I upgraded to SCCM SP1 over the weekend so that SCCM will recognize ACHI)No I did not check the build mass storage checkbox, should I?I am a little confused as to when you use sysprep in the task sequence if you are already using it when you build the image.Thank you Ulrik I will check that link out.

Hi,Did you have the SATA driver loaded into the system before your SP1 upgrade? If so then remove it and re-add. I saw a blog entry somewhere about the HDC RTM bug and that any upgrade to SP1 would require the removal of the HDC drivers to get them to work correctly.Mike

If you have configured sata operation mode in bios to IRRT you have to select "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA RAID Controller" in the apply drivers model selection. This applies for all the new Dell E Laptops.

I had the same issues on my E4300, but I took a shot and changed the SATA setting to A.. and I had no problem during XP's installation. I then switched the SATA setting back and no issues. It had no problem and it didn't require a re-install
