Managing Software with Automatic Updates
Good Morning everyone, I have a question about managing packages with automatic updates. Currently we do not allow end users to go out and install software on their own, or have access to the internet to get automatic updates. Some software providers we are working with will allow our server to function as an automatic update server. How can I use SCCM 2007 to manage the updates that I am getting from their servers without having to re-package every time there is an update. We are looking to replicate some capabilities of windows update where we can release certain updates at certain times. Thank you in advance for any ideas. Zack

You can use SCUP to publish third party updates into WSUS and then SCCM will pick them up and deploy them just like a normal software update. Adobe for instance releases all of their updates ready for consumption by SCUP. There are also several third party vendors that sell third party SCUP ready updates.John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|
