Managing SharePoint Team Sites
Throwing this idea out there to discuss viability. The idea is to manage SharePoint 2007 Team Sites using the FIM portal. Unfortunately I know very little about SharePoint (apart from getting WSS working with FIM:)) Currently there are a large number of team sites that use a combination of SharePoint users, SharePoint groups and AD groups to allow access. To make this manageable Team Sites would be imported in to FIM via Sync Engine as new object type along with the creator as a reference. Each Team Site would have AD group created that is used to manage access and the creator would be the owner of this group. Existing access whether SharePoint user, group or AD group would be made a member of the AD team site group. New Team Sites are created via the FIM portal (a matching AD TS group is also created) and then provisions them to SharePoint. Users then request access to TS group and approvals are in place for TS owner to grant or deny membership. Is extracting Team Sites data out of SP possible? Can the needed data be pushed back in to SP? New SharePoint XMA? Thanks in advance Paul

You'd need an XMA at a minimum. I'm sure there's a way to get this data with SP's API. You'll probably also want a workflow activity to build (and delete) the group objects in the portal. My Book - Active Directory, 4th Edition My Blog - www.briandesmond.com

Thanks for the reply. If you seek you shall find... The FIM Developer reference has some examples of how to use the SharePoint WebServices (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms696009.aspx) in an XMA, but this does seem to be lacking some info that I need to extract. Looking at using Microsoft.SharePoint API.
