Managing DL Group Membership in Cross-Forest Migration
So I'm currently in the midst of a cross-forest AD/Exchange Migration. For several reasons, my first step is going to be migrating the mailboxes from Forest A's 2003 Exchange org, to Forest B's 2010 Exchange org. I'm currently using the AD GAL MA for managing GAL sync between the 2 forests. I've successfully used the Exchange 2010 powershell prepare-moverequest.ps1 script for converting the ILM contact into a mail enabled user, and subsequently the new-moverequest to move perform a cross-forest mailbox move. Now however, I am challenged with trying to migrate the Distribution Groups and mail enabled Security Groups from Forest A to Forest B. I can use ADMT to migrate the group, but this does not handle the exchange attributes, nor can it add the contacts created from the GAL MA to the ADMT migrated group. This is obviously breaking mail flow using the migrated DL's. I'm assuming it should be possible to create a 3rd and 4th AD MA that will import the group from Forest A into the metavers, then export the group to Forest B, and subsequently add the associated contacts that already exist in the metaverse, to the group membership of the new group in Forest B. I simply don't have the skill set to create the MA or provision the rules to make such a thing happen. I'd hate to have to go out and purchase the quest tools to handle this portion. Any help???
