Management Point will not install

Hi,

I am using Windows Server 2012, SQL 2012 with cu2 and SCCM 2012 sp1, and I have one Primary site which will host all site roles.

I am trying to install the Management Point (using HTTPS for client connections) but it fails.

I did have the SCCM 2007 client install on this server which was delivering windows updates and FEP 2010 to the server, so after seeing a similar proplem reported and looking throught the msisetup log which said a previous version was detected, I used ccmsetup /uninstall to remove the client (which gets rid of it from control panel), and then removed the MP, rebooted and tried to install the MP again. However, the MP still wont install

mpmsi log as below:

The Management point MSI is exiting with error code 1603.

Copy this msi from D:\SCCM\bin\x64 and run it with verbose logging just to check the cause of the error.

It's not supported to run it manually. Adil. please read the threads closely before answering, then you would have seen that he already provided the relevant lines from mpmsi.log: " Error 25140. Setup was unable to compile the file CcmExec_Global.mof The error code is 80041002"

I am having this exact same issue with a different .mof file in a Server 2012, SQL 2012 CU3, SCCM SP1 setup.  The management point will not install.

January 18th, 2013 6:16pm

I just listed the one mof file for simplicity, since the MP fails due to a problem compiling mof files. I have 5 that report the same error:

PolicyDefaults.mof

StateMsgSchema.mof

DataTransferService.mof

CCMExec_MP.mof

CCMExec_Global.mof

I installed SQL 2012 standard x64 CU2 (since this is the update which is actually listed in the Technet article, but it does say a minimum of CU2 so I guess CU3 is probably supported - but then you would think SP1 would also be supported which it isn't)

I didn't get this problem when I installed SCCM 2012 on SQL 2008 with the CU's and Server 2008, so I'm guessing it is a problem with 2012 and I may have to try compiling the mof's manually (which I don't really want and was hoping to get a solution to the problem from this forum)

Mine is just the PolicyDefaults.mof. I have an open ticket with Microsoft and we tried compiling it manually and then reinstalling the MP but sadly it didnt work. I have reinstalled SCCM multiple times with different drives, redownloaded Media and the same error occurs each time.

I had a problem at a customer site recently where a fresh installation of SCCM 2012 SP1 failed to install the Management Point role during setup.  After numerous removal/re-installation of SCCM and server roles and features I reached an impass and wondered if it was due to 'one or more' Group Policy settings applied to the server OS or the user account undertaking the installation.  I hadn't the time to investigate which GPO was causing this and even after removing the server from the target scope of the GPO's and reinstalling SCCM 2012 SP1 the problem remained.  In the end, we rebuilt the server and ensured the machine object and user were group policy 'virgins' and the MP installed first time during setup.

Spot on!

I had the same issue I could not deploy config mgr clients, the management point was not healthy. I tried to reinstall but it failed. Running the CCMCLEAN.exe from the SMS2003 toolkit 2 resolved for me.

Thanks!!

Im having the same issue in our LAB's...

Install is a Win 2012 + SCCM 2012 SP1 + MSSQL 2008R2 SP2

In this environment I had Win 2008R2 SP1 + SCCM 2012 + MSSQL 2008R2 SP2 previously without any issues but have blown it all away as we are going the Win2012 and SCCM 2012 SP1 way.. Running inside the environment is a SCCM 2007R3 instance.. Currently testing migration.

Win2012 doesn't have the agent from SCCM 2007 R3 installed

I ran ccmclean, didn't work for me. But this did...

In an elevated Powershell window, run this:

Get-WMIObject -namespace root -query SELECT * FROM __Namespace where name = ccm | remove-wmiobject

It removes any last trace of 'CCM' from WMI. In my case I'd already uninstalled an old client and scoured the machine for any file or registry traces of ccm but finally this worked.

This worked for me.

I am installing a new SCCM 2012 primary site to replace our current SCCM 2007 setting the server was a clean install or 2012 R2 and I am installing SCCM 2012 R2.

Checking the mpMSI.log and MPSetup.log showed that an number of .mof not compiling.

It was also showing references to our old 2007 SCCM site instead of the new 2012 SCCM site.  Even though this was a brand new server which I had not installed the 2007 agent onto.

As soon as I ran the powershell command and restarted the component manager the components installed correctly.

Thanks
