Management Point in Critical state
Hello, after successful instalation of Managemet Point , it is in critical state. The error says: "mp control manager detected management point is not responding to http requests. the http status code and text is 500, internal server error" When i try to browse site SMS_MP in IIS i get HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden. A default document is not configured for the requested URL. In sms_mp directory is only one file - web.config Where can be a problem ? Is there missing some file or could it be problem with security rights? thanks for help

This error can indicate that the MP did not install successfully. Does the mpmsi.log say "Product: SMS Management Point -- Installation operation completed successfully." near the bottom of the log? If not, search the log for 'return value 3'. The several lines immediately above should have failure information and the error code. Browsing the MP like you say is not an indicator of it working successfully. Try this url from the machine where the MP is installed: http://localhost/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPLIST If it returns a list of the site's MP(s) then it did indeed install successfully and is functional.

Log says: Product: SMS Management Point -- Installation operation completed successfully When I try that URL I get: The Website cannot display the page Is there a way to uninstall/reinstall only Management Point?

Looks like the machine account for the site server hosting the management point is gone from the smsdbrole_MP. Perform a site reset to restore it. How to Perform a Site Reset http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694286.aspx

Did not help, still same error

It does seem like the MP cannot talk to the database. Please describe your configuration (domain, OSes, SQL and IIS versions, what is installed on what machines, etc...). Are your OS firewalls enabled?

Well,System centeris installed oncomputer with windows server 2008, sql 2005 is on the same machine. IIS is ver.7 Computer is in w2k3 domain. Firewall is in default mode (on) I think there will be problem with creating website for management point, MP is installed succesfully but whenI check the physical location of MP web it has no files. I have deleted MP reinstalled it and same problem. I have even reinstaled whole SC - same state.

SCCM 2007 Management Points are not supported on Win2008, neither are sites for that matter. That has been discussed numerous timesin this forum. You should install the MP on a Win2003 server at least. We'll have all the related supporting documentation, for configuring IIS 7.0 for hosting an MP, once we get closer to shipping SCCM 2007 SP1.

I am having this same issue on a Windows Server 2003 Std running SCCM SP1. Although my SQL is on a remote SQL server running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise with SQL 2005 SP2.I have reset the SCCM install several times and nothing populates the C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\SMS_MP folder. My SCCM server is also running SCOM.We have IIS 6 on both serversFirewall: SQL Server windows firewall is ON, SCCM Server windows firewall is OFF and there is no other firewall between the two.

I installed ConfigMgr2007 SP2 and updated it to R3, and I still have the Management Point in a critical state. I tried the localhost address listed above and got the following error: <fieldset><legend>Error Summary</legend> HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. </fieldset> <fieldset><legend>Detailed Error Information</legend> Module IIS Web Core Notification MapRequestHandler Handler StaticFile Error Code 0x80070002 Requested URL http://localhost:80/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPLIST Physical Path C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SMS_MP\.sms_aut Logon Method Anonymous Logon User Anonymous </fieldset>-- Charles Dm MCP: Windows XP, ACSP: OSX 10.5

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found Are you sure that there's a MP installed at all? You can download ConfigMgr tooklit V2 and use the MP Troubleshooter.

I will have to double-check everything for WebDAV even though I just did that before answering the above post, because the MP Troubleshooter indicates that WebDAV is not configured correctly.-- Charles Dm MCP: Windows XP, ACSP: OSX 10.5

The error was apparently a IIS WebDAV rule being configured in addition to the SCCM site WebDAV rule being configured. Line number: 976 Error: Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'add' with combined key attributes 'users, roles, path' respectively set to '*, , *' However, removing the duplicate rule, I still have an issue with the IIS site. SMS_MP does not appear to be configured. SCOM is installed on the same server, and there is a defined IIS site for that (http://localhost:51908/default.aspx). Not one for SCCM.-- Charles Dm MCP: Windows XP, ACSP: OSX 10.5

1. Check the permission of IUSER in IIS. I'm not familiar with the interface for IIS7 for Server 2008, is this the 'IIS Manager Permissions' listed under management? What permissions does IUSER need? If you mean the IIS_IUSRS group, it contains the SQLServerReportServerUser....... group, which contains: NT Service\ReportServer$... 2. Check the security of C:\WINDOWS\tasks folder. Authenticated Users: Read, Create Data Administrators: Full Creator Owner: Full System: Ful l I wanted to check in before completing the other steps to confirm.-- Charles Dm MCP: Windows XP, ACSP: OSX 10.5
