Manage a main domain with a dev and test all under SCCM
Hello all I hope someone can help me out here. We were running SMS2003 and this was all working correctly. I'm not the one who set it up so i'm going off what i can find but here is my issue. I have SCCM running and i have just cut over to it. All of the machines in the primary domain where its installed are working and getting the new client installed. I have a second and third domain called xxx-dev and xxx-test. I initially tried to extend the schema in both but it failed and looking closer there is no system management container in the system folder. I thought this would be a problem but since SMS2003 was working didnt think it is. The servers from the dev and test domains are getting the new SCCM clients installed on them, but they are unable to find the new site code and if i click the discover button it says it was unsuccessful each time. I'm kinda stuck and just not sure what i'm missing in the setup. I have configured the SLP in SCCM, but i think i'm missing something for the other two domains. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.Dave Bradley

The schema must only be extended once per forest and the System Management container has nothing to do with extending the schema. A System Management container will only be created in the domain where a siteserver is. Have you double-checked your boundaries? ClientLocation.log and LocationServices.log on the clients will tell you details. How does your domain / forest look like? One forest with child domains? Different forests? How many ConfigMgr sites and where?

have added all the IP ranges in for the boundaries of our test and dev. We have to sites so 2 different ranges for each. There is a trust between each domain and its one forest with the three domains. only 1 configmgr site and its set up with the production domain. I needed to create different accounts in test and dev in order to get the clients installed. Could i be missing some permissions the computer account of the SCCM server might need in thoes domains? Also where should those log files be located? Dave Bradley
