Making a new Content Sources gives Error "The start address "" already exists in this or another content source / cleaning register doesnt help

Hello,

I deleted an Contant Source because i needed to change the Crawl behavior, when i tried to make a new one with the same start adress i got the error:

"The start address * already exist in this or another content source"

I read in other post that this could be solved if i removed any keys that could stay in the registry on the index server.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office server\15.0\Search\Applications\*\Gather\Portal_Content\Sites*]

I did remove all the reference's but when i restarted my server the keys are back again?
How can i remove the keys for good? where do they come from? they seem to be old crawl rules that doesnt exist anymore?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rob

Hi Rob,

i Think you need to use power shell script ot remove the content source of the search so that it can clean from registory memory

see the link for the power shell script and you can get form MSDN Lib

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607959(v=office.15).aspx

Normaly when you moveing or deleteting any content source you should analyze the impact before deciding to do this step for your refernce in feature...
